BBL utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. The light energy delivered by BBL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. In addition, the photothermal energy targets and eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions. What is the difference between Broadband Light Treatment (BBL) and Intense Pulsed Light Treatment (IPL)?
Ultimately, BBL and IPL share the same definitive goal. The main distinguishable difference between the two comes down to the technology. BBL treatment is considered the latest and most advanced form of light therapy within the medical, cosmetic industry today. It is a more accurate and precise treatment method than IPL and it is more effective than the most of the widely used IPL technologies in UK. There are fewer complications, little down downtime and 3 times fewer treatments needed to reach the desired outcome compared with all of other laser treatments.
What does the treatment involve?
This is a very straightforward treatment. The mechanics are performed with a device that emits light energy to the skin, which then softens skin cells and stimulates the body’s natural regenerative properties. The rejuvenation of skin cells is part of the reason why this treatment is so effective. The other part is the way the energy works with your body to reverse the effects of the natural aging process. For age-related concerns, the production of collagen and elastin in the sub-dermal layers of your skin is essential to smooth the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. Since natural collagen production slows down as we age, the stimulation of new collagen can do wonders to restore the appearance of your skin. This treatment can be used on rest of the body.
Expected Results
The downtime for this treatment is minimal, it may take some time before you will see the results. During the first few days, you can see some darker pigmantation on certain parts of your skin and minor redness. Blemishes and blood vessels will usually clear up within a few weeks. Maintaining Results
Maintaining the results of your treatment is very easy, particularly when you can avoid any factors that may damage the skin or increase skin aging. For example, wearing SPF during the day can protect your skin from UV rays that cause your skin cells to age more quickly. Avoiding unprotected sun exposure will also prevent dark spots, broken vessels, and other types of sun damage. It is important to cleanse your skin twice a day and wear a moisturizer that supports skin health. You should also use skincare products that will support collagen production in the skin. Products such as Retinol or moisturizers that contain hyaluronic acid are good options.
Is This Treatment Safe?
Yes, this treatment is safe. Although this treatment uses the power of light to rejuvenate the skin, it does not cause any damage to the skin, such as scarring. Most of our clients see improvements in nearly all aspect of their skin.

Is BBL Treatment Painful?
BBL treatment is one of the most comfortable procedures to undertake compared to other IPL skin treatments. This is medically approved as safe and effective for most skin types. However, patients may experience a mild tingling sensation while the treatment takes place as if a small rubber band is being snapped against the skin. This may feel like a strange sensation but it doesn’t cause any severe pain and the sensation will fade in just a few hours post-treatment.
Aftercare
Just as important as the treatment, is the care for your skin pre- and post-treatment.
Cleanse the skin twice a day with lukewarm water with your hands and a gentle cleanser. Do not scrub or rub your face. Moisturizer should be applied generously with clean hands over treated area and reapplied whenever your skin feels dry. Sunscreen is a must and should be used daily, throughout the day. Use sunscreen with Broadband UVA and UVB protection and a SPF of at least 30.
